Like all big cities in the U.S., San Jose has its share of crime. Above is a map based on FBI crime data to help you negotiate which areas are relatively more and less safe in this area. The San Jose area is in the most dangerous 20% across the United States. The red shaded lights here indicate less safe parts of the metropolitan area. Showing 29 murders in a population of 920,548, this ranks the area in the less safe half for murder across the United States. While San Jose is not in the most dangerous fourth for murder of cities across the United States, there are steps that it can take to improve, and the home security industry plays an important role.

We provide this map as a public service to visitors and to keep students studying at University of California informed. Known as The Capital of Silicon Valley, there is lots to do in San Jose. Use this map when going to the Baseball Stadium Dodger Stadium to see the Los Angeles Dodgers team, or any of the great sports teams like the local basketball team Los Angeles Lakers or local football team Oakland Raiders.
