Like all big cities in America, Pittsburgh has its share of crime. Above is a map based on FBI crime data to help you negotiate which areas are relatively more and less safe in this area. At Home Security 8, we below that a well informed person is less likely to become a victim of violent crime. By looking at the lights above, you can tell which areas are more dangerous by looking for the red lights. Likewise, safer areas are shown with green lights. Our violent crime index based on rape, assault, and murder statistics.Though the map may be shocking, it is important to realize that overall Violent Crime has been dropping and Pittsburgh is no different.

The Pittsburgh area is in the most dangerous 20% nationwide. The red shaded lights here indicate less safe parts of the metropolitan area. Showing 56 murders in a population of 324,604, this ranks the town in the most dangerous fourth for murder nationwide. Even so, Pittsburgh is undergoing a period of urban renewal. There is certainly room for improvement, and the home security industry plays a vital role.
